"A house from Climauti"
The artwork "A house from Climăuți" is an immortalization of a house, still inhabited, from the village of Climăuți, Edineț district, but which showed great signs of degradation. This would mean that in a few years the house could disappear or its appearance, so authentic and special than the others in the area, could be crippled by new construction technologies and human living requirements, losing its aesthetic value and the history behind those burnt brick walls. A scenario that applies not only to this case, but also to many others in all localities, minimizing the cultural identity specific to the areas.
Alina Ponomariov studied easel graphics at the "Alexandru Plămădeală" College of Fine Arts and continued her education at the Academy of Music, Theatre, and Fine Arts. Over the years, she has participated in numerous socially themed exhibitions organized by institutions and cultural centers, including the Center for Contemporary Art [ksa:k]. Her work focuses on easel graphics, particularly traditional engraving techniques. Beyond fine arts, she has a strong passion for photography and, since 2022, has been a member of the documentary photography group Raw/Moldova.
